We had a unit at Westgate Resort Gatlinburg that we purchased in June, 2008. In October,2009 we stayed there for the first time, and realized the unit we purchased was not what we were told we bought. In trying to correct that, we ended up doing an upgrade to a larger unit.

At that time,we were told not to worry, the first unit was gone. Due to an unexpected large expense, we canceled our contract with Westgate within the 10 day time frame. It took them over 2 weeks to finally tell us it was canceled. The next week Westgate notified us that we still owned the first unit. We were told we should have known Westgate wouldn't let us out of everything! We have turned this over to the Governor of the State of T N. They have proven to be very good to work with. Our advice to potential timeshare visitors is to stay as far away from Westgate as you can.

We are dealing with the EXACT same thing. We purchased in 2008 after being shown what we were purchasing and moved to a new room to "experience what we purchased". Then when we arrived in Dec for our room was not even close to what we were told we were purchasing. The only help they have offered is for us to upgrade. I'm also filing a complaint w/ the AG of TN. Any pointers?

The State of TN could not get Westgate to even try to negotiate a settlement, but it is on record with the State of TN Complaint division, all the BBB's in TN. No tourist office which is run by the state, including Welcome Centers, will give out any information about Westgate. I'm still waiting for someone to file a class action suit. They have ruined my credit, but they can't call me anymore. This mess also screwed up my health, and I've been hospitalized 3 times because of high blood pressure. :sad:

This kind of business practice is hurting other families, new owners, our kids future, and friends. Westgate may have forclose on my account, but I will fight for others.

:sad: we are owners in the WG Smokey mountians we have owned for 5 years and taken 3 vacations as owners and have NEVER stayed in what we bought. we have not sat though the questionaire that the sucker you in to a up grade. this really ticks them off. we have never used any of the resorts stuff that it has ever been open or works properly. the water park is open for 5 hours a day. the gym is a small room with a few peices of equip. our room had a door to the out side in the bedroom. you could hear every thing all night and day. when i had a compliant i was sent to Amanda who told me " you can b@@@h and moan all you want it won't change any thing." great customer service uh. when i asked for her boss Joe he made an appointment and did not show up and never called either.

That is what I call a horrible experience, you should definitely file your own complaint on this site and let everyone know your story.
Next time you visit the resort wear a t-shit that says "I got ripped-off by Westgate" and see how they like it.

If you feel like you were a bait and switch sales tactic victim please e-mail me. I'm gathering information for my lawyer to take to my forclosure hearing.
Westgate made one teeny mistake with us. They gave us a floor plan for the deluxe room only they conned us into signing for a standard room.

i am trying to find people that has had problems with westgate. we have been lied to so much about everything and now we want out of this contract. can u give me any advice on how to go about this. can u give me some info of your forclosure that is the only way i know how to get out. please email back with your input. i would really appreciate it. thank you

Talk to ur lawyer & have them set up a phony company with no connection back to you & then sign your deed over to the fake company then just don't pay ur maint. & taxes

Hello Amanda, We would like to have the info on your lawyer. We have a bait & switch from one contract to another against our will within 3 months. We have your e-mail and will try to contact you.

For everyone else- send your complaints in to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. You can find the info on the web. Our timeshare co. was fined. Now we need a good lawyer that will take our case from here. Thanks.

I was sucker into the westgate scam. They sold me a dream of future property and thinking about my daughters future. When I was reluctant they threaten to make us pay full price in a Mertle beach hotel. I should of just paid the price and avoided this whole thing. After we told them that we couldnt afford the property anymore they said we could switch properties. Thats how I ended up with a smokey mountain property that I dont want. I hate WESTGATE.

We bought into WG in orlando Fl in 6/08 and have never used it. I tried to exchange a week in Gatlinburg TN. They informed me that it would cost me my exchange fees plus $500.00. needless to say i did not go to TN. We were supose to be abled to use this for exchange but what we got is not a red week. even tho we were told that we could exchange for anywhere since we bought a red week. what a rip off. we can only use on week 3 only.

I have a timeshare with Westgate and it's has been the worst mistake ever made. The customer service is awful and I just had them to draft my account for money that i DID NOT authorize. When I called to see why, the young lady Lusivett Sanchez was rude to me. I have to send them my bank statement and do all this extra stuff to get my money back. MOney of which I NEVER authorized them to take. I asked for a manager and the manager refused to give me her name. Terrible customer service, terrible resorts. Please if anyone is thinking about a timeshare with Westgate, RUN!!!!

I have also been scammed by Westgate Resorts my time share is in the Smokey Mountians TN, what they failed to tell me in their 4 hour long sales pitch was i am a odd year owner! I pay $250 a month plus a $700 yearly charge and i can go only every other year! I am stuck with a payment i cant afford and a time share i can visit every other year! I just dont know what i should do, i feel so taken advantage of and mislead! they really should be ashamed of themselves!

Well my wife & I gave up our week in Florida & upgraded from a 2 bedroom into a 3 bedroom in TN they told us we would be upgraded from a value week to a red week & gave us a letter stating that fact that was Aug. 2011 & so far have been told we are on a list & should be next the red week upgrade is the only reason we upgraded it pisses me off that we haven't got the red week yet & am not inerested in incurring the $500.00 seasonal upgrade fee (per week since the 3 bedrooms are all single units)
