I went through the same thing with BlueGreen and Orange Lake in Orlando. I bought the Orange Lake property first and was not happy, but they refused to buy it back unless I owed less than $5,000 on it. So they sold it to me for $15,000 and they would only resell it if I owed less than $5,000 so I went to Bluegreen who said that they could have it sold in 90 days or less through their own reselling company. I paid them and then I called them about 2 1/2 months later to find out the status since I hadn't heard anything else and they had closed the doors to the Atlanta Preview center 1 week after I had bought my timeshare through them.

Please contact me because they need to be stopped.

I now have 2 timeshares and can't get rid of a damn one of them. I have listed them everywhere and can't get them sold. I am very unhappy.

I checked out Vacationtree. It, too is a scam. They apparently also scam their employees and fail to pay them. There are some class action suits pending against them. See www.ripoffreport.com.

I did not owe on my timeshare, and virtually gave it away. I advertised on craigslist, and had several interested individuals, and helpinghands@unitedchristianou treach.org
also was interested as a donation. My ad was flagged for being an "intangible" but not before 4 people contacted me. I hope this helps others. I am grateful not to have the annual fee.

Merribeth,
How did you list the timeshare on craiglist (words used in the listining)? Did you sell or transfer the timeshare, what was the process? How long were you an owner?

I become an owner in May and wish I didn't

Email me at or visit my site, I can offer you intelligent advice if nothing else. Do not pay anyone to list your timeshare. You can list it on my website for free. www.timesharetricks.blogspot.com

We own week #52 at Orange Lake and just found out by accident (we were not notified about this) that they have changed the dates for week #52 which normally runs from 12/24-12/31 like the rest of the world, to 1/1-1/7. This totally screwed up our vacation this year since we also have a timeshare somewhere else and have always gone for weeks 51 and 52 in sequence. Now Orange Lake has left us with a week in between weeks 51 and 52 since they have altered the calendar that the whole world depends on. Has anyone else had a problem with Orange Lake moving their usual week up?
