Husband & I purchased a 1 week, bi annual jr suite along with 4 Bonus Weeks per year. Bonus Weeks were promised at these prices @ any affiliated resort in Mexico & US: Per night...$50 for Jr Suite, $75 for 1 Bdrm, $100 for 2 Bdrm.
Our salesman Mark Schaub guaranteed we would get the Bonus Weeks and be able to use PB's rental program to rent out our timeshare and make a profit. Our plan was never to stay at PB Sunset Resort, but to rent it & use our Bonus Weeks. Pueblo Bonito will not recognize these prices or Bonus Weeks. We have been in contact with them regarding this immediately upon our purchase.Karina Nunez at their customer service desk just keeps telling me I can get unlimited weeks thru Pueblo Bonito Premier, but they are not even close to those prices or those accomadations. She will not put me into contact with a supervisor either. Mark Schaub lied to us and it seems Karina Nunez and Pueblo Bonitos customer service is aware that their sales people lie. I want people to know about their deceitful tactics and I'd like to do something to get this resolved.

We'd like our contract cancelled and our deposit back.
We were promised by our sales manager, Dirk Meyer, that an "associate" could sell our existing timeshare with RCI for $13,000 in as few as 2 weeks and as much as 3 months. 1 1/2 years later, and a lost payment to this "associate" to sell our timeshare, and nothing. This $13,000 was to conveniently pay down the balance on the PB Sunset purchase after deposit, money we did not have without the sale of the RCI week. The sales manager knew this was a necessity for us to cover the price of a Sunset purchase, and skillfully deceived us into this no win scenario.
We know NOW that there is no "Market Value" of an existing timeshare, not before the economy took a dive or after. The US economy is an excuse of theirs--but just before this he assured us that in Mexico things are different! Resale value of timeshares has always been low. He knows this and knew it when he was selling us his pitch. That is one of the myths in the timeshare industry.
We haven't even had a "lowball" offer.
We also know NOW that a week or weeks at a timeshare property is NOT an "investment" that can be rented out for profit, and that will increase in value over time, golf course or no golf course. That is another of PB Sunset sales crew, and timeshare industry in general, myths.
This has nothing to do with the beauty of the area. Certainly, it is lovely. But we'd all be better off buying someone else's week on Redweek or any number of other sites where OWNERS are desperately trying to rent out the units they have already bought but can't get rid of. Puelbo Bonito is aware of this as well, as the complaints of difficulty renting out their units are on the internet. Owners take a loss on rental. And this was true before the economy tanked.
We bought into "the dream". Potential buyers at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach need to be aware of the deceitful methods used in the sales pitch, and not be taken in as we were. Better yet, avoid the salespitch. Enjoy the beauty and leave.
Have you gotten anywhere with your efforts toward a refund?
Please let me know. I'm not surprised your salesman would not contact you in response. They already have your downpayment. But there is an organization called The Owner's Alliance that can help you (google it) and your can visit www.Mescam.com that has lots of helpful info throughout. There is a blog spot that has "Pueblo Bonito Lies" posts--google it. Or you can contact me .
We've had same experience with Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach - they completely misrepresented the timeshare to us. Have you had any luck with a refund? Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
If they'd stop lying, the lovely place may just sell itself.
If you are interested in furthering your efforts in self-advocacy you may consider posting a report on www.ripoffreports.com as well. Their staff does monitor a variety of posts.
We heard from Pueblo Bonito that they have CANCELLED our contract. Good. But that's not enough.
We want our $5000 downpayment refunded as well. It's no small amount of money for us. My husband works for a non-profit relief agency.
Due to the lies and misrepresentations of our salesman, Dirk Meyer, we bought. We trusted him. We soon learned that what he promised was untrue. We never received anything in return for our downpayment of 5K.
Warning to visitors to Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach: GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. Do not enter a sales presentation without blank paper for them to write their promises of "investment over time that will pay for itself" , or "I have a ReMax agent friend who will sell your old timeshare for you for $13,000" or whatever else sounds too good to be true.
If he invites you to visit his ranch, just know he does this with others too. It builds "trust". It may even be against sales rules--but rules don't seem to stop the sales at this resort.
If you don't have paper, BRING YOUR VIDEO CAMERA. They are sure to not like this, but insist that you will record every word of their sales pitch.
Leave Cabo's paradise knowing you still have money in your pockets and great memories.
Re: the "ethical resale agent" for the resale of our RCI week. Yes, Elite Retreats is ethical. Ethical enough to later refund every penny we paid them for the resale that never happened and to assure us that the week would never have sold for anywhere NEAR to $13,000--good or bad economy. I'm not sure WHO that was you called up on speakerphone when we were seated at the table? Maybe you can tell me? It may or may not have been Kevin. And furthermore, Elite Retreats was ethical enough to acknowledge that YOUR PUEBLO BONITO SALES STAFF had been warned by them to stop promising the moon re: resale of exiting timeshare to use as the balance in timeshare purchases.
I still advise potential buyers to carry a video camera or recording device...capture all promises and verbal assurances of offers, whether it be about resale of existing timeshare, bonus weeks with Premier, said golf course, or the reference to timeshare ownership as an "investment" that will pay for itself. If it's not in the fine print of the contract it doesn't hold water.
No doubt the resort has high ratings. It's absolutely lovely and delightful. Just tell the TRUTH. The place sells itself. If we had $13K from the sale of our existing timeshare we would be owners now--and would have received SOMETHING for our money--possibly trying to figure out Premier/Bonus weeks, etc but we'd probably figure it out and laugh off the nonsense that the place is an "investment that will pay for itself" and deal with the rising maintenance fees. It's a resort.
As it is, we lost $5,000 that we would NEVER have put down as a deposit if we had been told THE TRUTH about our existing RCI timeshare resale. We were counting on the $13,000 to come in within "2 weeks to 3 months". That was the crux of our financial decision and we told you that. You assured us "no problema". We believed you. And we were wrong to.
Our contract has been successfully cancelled, but only after PB attempting to ruin and wreck our credit MULTIPLE times--I'm thankful there are Fair Credit Reporting Laws, although Pueblo Bonito (Concord Services-the financial arm of PBSB) disregarded the law as far as they were able until they apparently gave up.
The real issue?
We'd still like our $5,000 back. It was gained by Pueblo Bonito through deceitful practices.
Thus far I have email my sales rep, emailed every email address on the paperwork, sent a certified letter to Premier--will fax one also, faxed whiloe in Mexico to any and all fax numbers I found on web---and the only response I got was by email from my sales rep stating, please return the spa certificates she gave me first. I did this, and had a supervisor sign for them, but they still don't respond. Who else shall I be contacting? Anyone have a local number or Mexican one (with contact name) where I can actually speak to someone? thx
BTW- Are you trying to cancel your time share or the Premiere Plus?
We are experiencing the same issues you had with Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. May I ask how you were able to get all of your money back. We have contacted our credit card company and filed a dispute, but curious how you were able to get a full refund. Did you contact Pueblo Bonito directly? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
Valerie Nelson
A charge of $299 was deducted from my debit card and when I called OVC, they told me it was authorized by Pueblo. We called Pueblo and spoke with Eddy Childers. We told him that this was not authorized and he told us that we can cancel the premiere membership and that we would be refunded.A week later, no refund. I emailed Mr. Ramirez, member service director, and exlained to him what was going on, he sent me a copy of the credit card authorization. From the get go, the form looked like it was altered and to top it off, it was dated December 22, 2012. It was my signature, but I have never signed this document. I asked him for a picture of the document and got nothing. He also emailed me that he sent me proof that i did sign the document and that I am blaming them of forge and altering. He says that we would get reimbursed for the $299. I also demanded to cancel our contract and refund our downpayment. He says no refund of downpayment and he didn't mention anything about cancelling our contract. I have contacted the local media to expose the type of business your company runs. I am still waiting for a cancellation confirmation and a refund as well. I have forwarded all the emails and attachments to PROFECO and others. WE WANT OUR CONTRACT CANCELLED AND MONEY BACK..PEOPLE BE WARNED, DO NOT EVER DEAL WITH PUEBLO...WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!
