I have had a time share since 2007. I purchased a i bedroom unit, and over the next two years had it upgraded to what i currently have, which is a three bedroom "penthouse". This place at one time may have been nice, but it has fallen into disrepair.
The owner Kor Dorman came up with the idea to assess the owners of the units to help pay for the cost of upgrading. The contract does not state that assessments will be charged, especially where the assessment only aids the owner. I have attempted to ascertain where The Ocean Reef found the right to do this, but interestingly, they do not respond, but charge a late fee instead, if you do not pay what they have termed the "maintenance fee". I feel that this charge is an elaborate way to update a place that is not very clean, at the expe! nse of the owners of the timeshares and for the benefit of the resort owners. Any attempts to contact the ownership of the resort is futile, and a complete waste of time.
I wonder how many others have experienced this from these people. I would like to take action against them, but this would be difficult, given that they can hide behind the law of the Bahamas. Shame on me for ever dealing with these people. I hope that others will learn from my experience.
